I'll be honest. I am disappointed. The beginning promised me a fun slice of sci-fi comedy and all I got was a rambling of an old man that became boring after 30 seconds. It was too long to serve as punchline, this needed something else to bring the mood and vibe back. Or the lengths of the intro sci-fi part and rambling part should be reversed

It's still unclear why Willow died. Frozen? Attacked by an animal? A bad fall? I understand that is not actually relevant for the story, but still. Or maybe that's my professional mental deformation speaking

Well, with a lot of wilderness disappearances it's often still a mystery because by the time they find a person's remains it's... hard to tell, and as you listed there are several possibilities. It's usually chalked up to "exposure."
